Toshiba 62hm195 DLP tv…picture problem.

This came right out of nowhere. I don’t think it’s the bulb and the indicator lights are normal. Seems to be a problem with color or something and is the same on all inputs… Toshiba help!! It’s bad enough that the bulb life was defective, now this?

try adjusting the “index delay”(that’s the name on samsung’s), but something to do with the color wheel’s timing the mirror movement
January 26th, 2011 at 20:21
its ethier the color wheel is not spinning fast enough or a problem with the optics engine
January 26th, 2011 at 20:43
color wheel. 150 bucks if you DIY. 400 for a repairman. I opted to buy a plasma.

@skyking1066 Nope, not yet. The problem goes away when dropping brightness, contrast, and color…but I’m looking for a solution.

Man Im having the same issue with my 120′ samsung tv. I had high respect for Samsung products but after this problem with my tv and all the online thread about Samsung not actively helping out customers to fix the defect, I am so dissapointed.

I have a mitsubishi DLP and the same thing is happening to my tv.

A repairman just fixed mine. Samsung now pays for parts and labor.
The chip is filled with thousands of small square mirrors that tilt 15 degrees up to -15 degrees down. The color wheel reflects upon these mirrors as they tilt. A tilt all the way up or all the way down produces white or black pixels. He also said that the problem is not in the mirror arrangement itself, but on a bad batch of chips? that overheated the mirrors, preventing them from getting out of the extreme tilt angles.

January 27th, 2011 at 04:33
Right now those dots will multiply
in 100s of dots making black dots and your whole tv will be white as an albino it sucks
January 27th, 2011 at 04:54
@MsBamagirl58
Tell Samsung that you don’t have enough money to even pay rent or mortgage. That is key to getting FREE service. And Also, tell them that you already had a service man come out and tell you that it was the DLP chip. LIE to get what u deserve. FREE Service and Parts. I had mine fixed, but it looks like shit and will never be the same.

TV clicks for an hour now before coming on. Dots throughout screen when it finally comes on. Geek Squad coming next week. I will take my receipt and myself to Small claims court after that. I don’t like being shammed. I don’t know how I can lose this one with all of the complaints online. Will keep everyone posted on the outcome!
January 27th, 2011 at 06:36
Put SAMSUNG TV CLICKING into a google search to read about THOUSANDS of samsung customers that are screwed and pissed off.

Sounds like it’s time for a class action lawsuit, if one hasn’t already been launched. It’s unfortunate that manufacturers get away with only 1 year warranties on multi-thousand dollar products. Consider the auto industry. It took years of getting pummeled by better built imports for them to start offering 5 year warranties.

Samsung finally got someone to service the TV. He did his best, but this TV will never look great again. The picture is a little off center, slightly skewed and blotchy. I really wish I would have bought a Sony LCD.
January 27th, 2011 at 08:30
wow…just got my first white spot today…am i in for a rude awakening here on my TV i bought about 2 years ago? I was hoping to have this for at least 5 years…

For this issue, please call 800-SAMSUNG (rather than filling out an online service request).
1. Explain your situation to the call center agent, and see if you can have a service ticket set up. A brief reminder, the free service is limited to white/black dot issues – both of which are an indication of a stuck micromirror chip. All other issues – out of warranty – will have a potential service/part charge.

Go get ‘em Matt!!
January 28th, 2011 at 03:37
I think @LP640driver is right. It sounds like this guy has a bad
color wheel, which really stinks.
