You should be looking at a receivers from Onkyo or Denon and such as the Onkyo TX SR 608 and speakers by Jamo;Energy; Klipsch; Boston Acoustic; Fluance; Polk Audio; Jamo such as the Jamo S 606 5.1 or Jamo S426HCS3 and a sub from Jamo; Boston polk or Energy…a lot has to do with personal preference size of room how far you sit away from the speakers; how loud you listen etc….

Keep in mind that home theater in a box are not flexible for upgrade or adding other items to them. The only input it has is an optical audio. Look at a separate receiver and speaker or an Onkyo HT-S models, it is a 5.1 or 7.1 receiver and a set of speakers. All you need is a Panasonic blu ray disc player model BD-65 and you have a nice system. You should demo the system at Fry’s Electronic and bring your own source of material for the demo. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on all electronics. Hope this will help you out.
