Large items that require long distance trucking take forever to arrive. One seller, Tiger Direct, could really care less if you get your product. They will charge you extra for quick delivery and then tell you that large items take several weeks to arrive. Trucking companies such as ABF don’t care when you get your product. They don’t deliver on Saturday and don’t answer emails.
Amazon talks a good talk, but they really don’t stand behind you on your purchases. I would suggest going to a local retailer to purchase large items.

This was our second Toshiba in a row and the second one we’ve had major problems with. 31 days after purchasing it, it quit working. It’s now been two full months with no repair. Toshiba claims the “part is back ordered”- for two full months. It’s not the lamp or another common part, but a mystery part that needs to be shipped. Apparently from the fourth dimension. We’ve had multiple repair people over to the house (both from the store that sold it to us and a subcontractor from Toshiba) and still have a VERY expensive non working TV set.
Avoid Toshiba- avoid this TV!

I purchased the TV from Tiger Direct through Amazon about a year and a half ago for $1200. I couldn’t be more happy with it. I spent a lot of time walking through department stores (Best Buy and Circuit City) to find what kind of TV I wanted to buy, this TV always stuck out. For the screen size and price, you couldn’t find a better buy. I was looking at Mitsubishi’s 57″ DLP first, but researched this TV with it and found that they’re basically the same TV, but the Toshiba was $500 less.
The picture quality on the DLP rivals LCDs and Plasmas, hands down. I have a long living room so having a LCD or Plasma, I wouldn’t really benefit from the really wide viewing angles. With DLPs, I don’t ever have to worry about picture burn-in that the Plasma might experience. With LCDs, the closer you get to the picture, you can actually see the individual LCD “rectangles”. You won’t get that from DLP. The closer you get, all the round images actually stay round.
I have Toshiba’s HD-A30 HD DVD player and the picture is immaculate. I have plans to buy a Blu-ray player also, but I’m waiting until black friday for the good deals. This TV has a built-in HD tuner so with a HD antenna, I get all the local TV channels in hi-def for free.

This tv has great picture quality, though not quite as good as some of the other top tier tvs in the same segment, the price more then makes up for that being a few hundred dollars cheaper. I have all three consoles hooked up and all look great. Blu-Ray on the PS3 looks great specially if you use HDMI. Also, until recievers have more HDMI hook ups, this tv has enough to hold you over with three. Unfortunately, non HD sources don’t look quite a good. My Wii which is hooked up through component just looks blurry. This is obviously a problem due to this sets large size, all tvs of this size share this problem with blurred images of non HD sources. I have Direct TV HD and it looks great, however, be wary since lots of the “HD” channels aren’t true HD yet, just less compression then before.
I did have a problem with the bulb going out after a few weeks, however, since I’m still within the first year of warranty, they replaced it within a week at no charge. Unfortunately, you do have to send back the broken bulb which is a nuissance, but it’s a small price to pay.

My Toshiba arrived in perfect condition and has worked flawlessly for two months. I appreciate the three HDMI inputs and have used them all. Cable box, HD DVD and Blu-ray. The picture is bright and clear. For those of us that like to save electricity there is a power saver mode that draws only 2 Watts.
The remote is comprehensive. One problem is it cannot be programmed for HD-DVD. Toshiba is working on a fix. Until then I use a Harmony remote which works perfectly for all components.
